GIMLE



Gimle was founded as a venue and cafe/club 12 years ago, but in august the place re-opened as a joint-venture of all main youth organizations and individuals in performing arts and cultural activities in Roskilde. Today the place is known as The Venue, Youth Culture- and Student House Gimle, funded and govered by a board of representatives from Roskilde's City Council, The Roskilde Foundation (organizers of the Roskilde Festival) and Gimle activists, and run by an elected board of Gimle activists and employees, and a professional management staff.

Gimle is one of the top 10 venues in Denmark (therefor supported economically by The State Department of Music under the Ministry of Culture), a cafe and restaurant, the house of 20 workgroups and youth organizations and app. 150 activists.

Gimle presents:

  • Around 200 concerts per year
  • An ecological kichen
  • Cinema-evenings, lectures, debates, workshops, etc.
  • The youth magazine Campus 4000
  • A nigtclub with Roskildes best DJ's

Gimle is also one of the main hosts of the Wired tours in Denmark, and, if You come to Roskilde, definately the place to be!
