(the task for members of Balkan rock council is to come up with strategic project direction for a faster and more stabile growth of this west-oriented scene)

(task is to sistemize experiences, knowledges and information about patterns and ways of establishing and development of international projects and to work on eastablishing those)

UA academy is scheduled from Monday till Wednesday, (schools and Youth club in Valpovo); Academy Open Door Day on Thursday (Bistrinacka beach), round- table and conclusions, decision-makers, on Friday.

Since festival concerts finance the UA academy, the number of academy members is limited, but can be increased by member’s own financial participation for meals and transportation, as well as additional engagement at Balkan rock council.

To support UA academy institutional staff members, who practice international cooperation ane pre-acess funds of EU, scientists, who are dealing with youth, culture and society, civil society brands from Osijek region, and of course, associations and youth clubs as well as cultural managers and artists, have been invited.

Cultural events will be held in two beautiful venues (big sandbank of Drava River and a big old castle in a park in Valpovo).
Bands and DJs have been chosen based on their good vibe and serious recommendation, our sponsors are established brands as well as the chefs, waiters and other staff, including the sound people. We have big media sponsors, as well as strong marketing (2 series of plaques and brochures, which will be handed out at festivals by the activists).

The soul of the festivals are part-time workers and volunteers, who are a part of an already well-tuned team, who want to have the best festival in the world. Come and witness...

Irie-People media predstavlja letnji chillout party na jezeru Ada Ciganlija, i poziva vas na jedinstveno krstarenje karipskom muzikom i kulturom.
Dva odlicna mlada reggae benda iz Beograda i Kruševca, uz podršku specijalnog gosta sa Trinidad i Tobaga, i nekoliko veoma kvalitetnih djeva sa ovih prostora ucinice da jedno vrelo subotnje popodne na Adi bude potpuno u crveno žuto zelenim bojama.

Party ce promovisati vegan ishranu, ocuvanje planete i pojedine segmente daleke ali ne i strane jamajcanske tradicije i kulture. Za video performans u duhu reggea zadužena je Propaganda. Zabava pocinje od 7 casova po lokalnom vremenu. Ulaz je slobodan.

I am sorry to inform you all that Natasja died Sunday, far too early at the age of 32, in a car accident.



Her life ended in Jamaica, where she lately experienced a great deal of success and recognition. In the car with Natasja was her friend and colleague Karen Mukupa, who was only lightly injured.



Natasja and Mukupa both performed on the Made in DK venue tour in Serbia, April 2006, organised by BRC. Natasja and the other artists performed on for free on this tour despite their commercial success elsewhere, and hereby stood out as curious and idealistic human beings. Natasja was a strong female voice and a great performer. She will be missed.

U cetvrtak 21. juna u Underground Clubu , proslavite praznik muzike sa grupom Fizcus?!

Vec trecu godinu zaredom, grad Tuzla, zahvaljujuci podršci kulturnih odjela Francuske Ambasade, Francuskog kulturnog centra “Sophie Chifflet“ i Udruženja „Tuzla Live“, ucestvuje u proslavi praznika muzike, medunarodnog dogadaja koji ove godine slavi 25 godina svog postojanja.

Osnovan 1981. godine od strane Francuskog ministra kulture Jacka Langa, praznik muzike se danas slavi na pet kontinenata i u 110 država, medu kojima je i Bosna i Hercegovina.

Nakon što je 2005. godine ugostio grupu Vincent Eckert koji su svirali pjesme sa jakim porukama, 2006. godine grupu elektronske muzike Fedayi Pacha (plod bosansko-francusko-njemacko suradnje), FKC “Sophie Chifflet“ i Udruženje „Tuzla Live“ Vas pozivaju da u cetvrtak 21. juna, prvog dana ljeta, pogledate i poslušate nastup benda FIZCUS ?!, francuskog pop-rocka sastav iz Pariza.

FIZCUS ?! je ove godine na evropskoj turneji i u BiH još nastupaju u Sarajevu i Banja Luci. Sastav broji 8 clanova i osnovan je 2000. godine. Vježbaonica

Društvo Manifest od 2001. godine pruža podršku, obezbjeduje prostor za vježbanje i radi na prezentaciji rada mladih umjetnika i neafirmisanih bendova. U skladu sa tehnickim mogucnostima, prostorom , ova ( jedna od osnovnih) aktivnost je doprinjela razvoju urbane i kulturne scene u našem gradu, te doprinjela razvoju i afirmaciji prijedorskih bendova. WIRED-ova donacija, tehnicka oprema ( binska oprema, mini razglas) je unaprijedila ovu aktivnost, poboljšala tehnicke uslove u vježbaonici i stvorila uslove za intezivniji rad bendova koji se ogledao u povecanju broja proba i omogucavanju vecem broju muzicara rad u vježbaonici. Ova donacija povecala je intezitet proba na 16 sati sedmicno ( 2 probe dnevno po 2 sata X 4 dana). Ovakav režim rada zadržan je od septembra 2006. do kraja januara 2007. godine, a u samoj vježbaonici odradeno je preko 350 sati aktivnog rada. Manifestove prostorije se nalaze u privatnoj kuci, u naseljenom dijelu grada, tako da je ovoliki broj proba i više nego zadovoljavajuci.

Aktivnosti vježbaonice privremeno su obustavljene pocetkom izgradnje demo studija i "gluve sobe" u februaru 2007. godine.



U rad organizacije ukljuceno je 12 volontera koji obavljaju poslove vezane za organizaciju manifestacija, promociju bendova, projektne aktivnosti, te audio i video produkciju. Takode, pod pokroviteljstvom organizacije funcionišu i usavršavaju svoj rad prijedorski bendovi Tattoo, DBAU, Mangia, Unutrašnja Emigracija dok bendovi Flegma, Seansa i Geneticka Kontrola sviraju povremeno.
Manifest radi na prezentaciji njihovog rada a u planu je podrška u vidu snimanja, obrade i izdavanja njihovog muzickog materijala,u vidu kompilacija i samostalnih CD izdanja. Manifest je u proteklom periodu obezbijedio logisticku i tehnicku podršku na koncertima prijedorskih bendova, jam session-ima u klubu Van Gogh i “Karavani za mir “ koja je nedavno bila gost u našem gradu.
Eventualnim viškom novca od manifestacija, koncerata, iznajmljivanja opreme, clanarine placaju se režijski troškovi prostorija, popravci i amortizacija opreme, te dio kirije za prostorije.



Demo studio

Društvo urbanih umjetnika Manifest je u mjesecu februaru 2007.god. preko organizanicije URUK, a u sklopu WIRED-ovog programa podrške organizacijama mreže, dobilo prvi dio finansijskih sredstava - 500 evra ( 977 KM). Ova sredstva su namjenjena realizaciji projekta opremanja demo studija i vježbaonice. Korisnici projekta, odnosno studija i vježbaonice,su bendovi i mladi umjetnici sa podrucja opštine Prijedor koji rade na razvoju kulturnog života, promocije umjetnosti i poboljšanju muzicke scene na citavoj regiji.

Novac donatora namijenjen je za izgradnju "gluve sobe" u cijem sklopu je vježbaonica, te kupovine neophodne opreme za osnovno funkcionisanje studija (usnimavanje, obrada zvuka, monitoring, kablovi...)

U prvoj fazi, koja je trajala od 19.02. do 10.03.2007.godine, novcem iz prve transakcije odradene su slijedece aktivnosti:
1. kupovina izolacijskog materijala - "romboidna" spužva, lesonit ploca, sitnog gradevinskog materijala, ljepila i izolacijskog platna
2. prevoz materijala (iznajmljivanje kombija) i rad na izgradnji studija i "gluve sobe"



Druga faza, završetak "gluve sobe”, povezivanje opreme i stavljanje u funkciju studija i vježbaonice organizacija Manifest zapocela je poslije dobijanje sredstava u drugoj transakciji -500 evra (977 KM), u mjesecu martu.

Aktivnosti odradene u drugoj fazi:
1. kupovina nosecih letvica, sitnog gradevinskog materijala, elektricnih instalacija i neophodne tehnicke opreme za pocetak rada studija ( monitori, mikrofonski kablovi i konektori)
2. radovi na završetku konstrukcije "gluve sobe" i povezivanje opreme

Manifest je obezbijedio finansijska sredstva za izvodaca radova i volotersku podršku pri izgradnji gluve sobe.

Objavljena su imena izvodaca koji su se prijavili za Exitov konkurs, a koji su odabrani za nastup na Exit festivalu. Objavljeni su rezultati za World Music stage, Explosive i Elektranu. Rezultati za preostale bine još nisu objavljeni jer ove godine je stiglo pet puta više prijava nego prethodne.

Jugoistocna Evropa je vec deset godina svjedok ljubavno-muzicke veze izmedu Timike i ljubitelja elektronske muzike!

Timea Szalas, poznatija kao DJ Timika, živi u Subotici, gde je, nakon dugog boravka u Budimpešti, svojim talentom, ukusom i muzickim stilom uspjela da postane omiljeni lokalni DJ, a ubrzo i omiljeno ime na line up-u mnogih klubova širom regiona jugoistocne Evrope.

"Puštam muziku koja me pokrece na ples i u setovima volim izlete u ludo i nepoznato" - DJ Timika.

Dobar slušalac i iskusna cluberka, za kratko vrijeme je postala kvalitetan DJ. Izgradila je sopstveni muzicki stil, bez podilaženja publici i bez osvrtanja na nametnute muzicke mainstream trendove, koji su po mišljenju mnogih lakša stepenica do uspjeha. U svojim setovima se okrenula licnom izboru muzike, kojom prezentuje ono najemotivnije što nudi moderna elektronska muzika u svojoj minimal-techno i house fazi. To joj je, izmedu ostalog, obezbjedilo mnogobrojne nastupe, na skoro svim bitnijim dešavanjima i festivalima (Exit, Mjaft!, Summer3p, Ozora itd.), kao i poziciju savjetnika za muzicki DJ program palickog festivala Summer3p. Više puta je nastupala u Hrvatskoj, BiH, Sloveniji, Madarskoj, Makedoniji, Albaniji, Srbiji i na Kosovu.

Rado koristi tehnicke i muzicke novotarije - i posebno FinalStrach, kojim pušta elektro, minimal i techno muziku. Timika je autentican DJ na ovim prostorima sa velikim brojem svojih fanova i uspješnih nastupa iza sebe.

"To što sam ženskog pola mi je samo olakšalo put do publike, ali ne i sve ostalo. Mnogo rada, truda i party-a je iza mene, i mislim da je konstantan rad i ljubav prema muzici jedina formula uspjeha".

Zajedno sa Gojom, Natašom i Istom povremeno organizuje privatne Funpro4 party-e, kako bi sprijecili da naziv nekadašnje suboticke DJ skupine padne u zaborav.

U Sarajevu ce nastupiti u clubu so.ba u petak 11.05.2007, a domacini Djarmah&Zulumaan su tu za warm up i full support!

Konkurs za neafirmisane bendove koji žele da nastupaju na jednoj od bina ovogodišnjeg EXIT festivala otvoren je od 6. marta do 15. maja 2007. godine.

Da biste se prijavili na konkurs potrebno je da popunite aplikaciju koju cete naci ovde.

U srcu Palicke šume, od 28.04. do 01.05. održati ce se ovogodišnji Trenchtown Festival 07! Tri stagea, 101 izvodac iz preko 10 zemalja, visokokvalitetni zvuk, umjetnicki osmišljena rasvjeta, razlicite radionice, sve to nudi ovogodišnji Trenchtown... Na glavnom stageu predstavit ce se Cubismo, Anima Sound System, Rambo Amadeus, Eyesburn, Ajs Nigrutin, Irie FM i još mnogi drugi, na DJ stageu zabavljat ce vas imena kao Oliver Ho, Steve Gerrard, dok je tu i reggae stage na kojem ce nastupati Chalice Sound System, Love Alliance, Jahstice Sound... This long text is exclusively about being volunteer at Roskilde Festival on the camping area.

WHY TO BECOME A VOLUNTEER?

Of course some people would just join in order to get free entrance to the festival, slip for the 200 Euros that cost the ticket, and party non stop during 1 week. Well those should stop reading here. They are very welcome as normal guests, but this text is not for them.

Many enthusiastic people are helping arranging the biggest Nordic festival (second biggest in Europe). Each year, any profits from Roskilde Festival are donated to humanitarian or cultural purposes. Roskilde Festival is a huge music festival carefully planned over many months and implemented by some 18.000 dedicated volunteers. They do it because they want to support a great cultural event, want to devote some of their time and energy to be part of a great human adventure. Solidarity, dedication, care, positive thinking are some of our key values. If they also are yours, join our team and some day in July, while watching some great concert at RF07, you'll find yourself thinking: my own work made this possible :)

I GOT THE POINT, BUT WHAT IS THE JOB?

You need to be over 18 y.o. The work will be "camping gard", meaning mainly patrol and social interaction with our campers-guests.
Usual tasks are :
- tower watch (stationary duty) : reporting incidents such as fire, health problems¦
- environment : advising and helping guests to clean their area, maintaining the tent within safe paths.
- campfire care (stationary duty) : guests can only use official-secured campfires to cook ; a special area dedicated to that purpose is to be taken care of.
- toilet gard (stationary duty) : avoiding vandalism and making sure that toilet paper is always available (no cleaning of the toilet themselves involved).
- fire/fence walk : report fire or intrusion attempt through the fences.

What we propose you is to get free entrance to the festival in exchange of around 28 hours of volunteer work (the minimum is 24h but it could be a bit more).

You will probably have to make at least one shift (each shift last 8h) during the concert time so there will be few bands you cannot see. That's the way. So if you really don't wanna miss any bands, well you should rather buy the ticket. There is also a possibility to have all shifts out of concert time, but in this case you will have to make 4 shifts (please let me know in due time if that could be interesting for you, since only few can do that).

You will get a COMPULSORY 2h introduction on safety rules and procedures. That introduction will be held at Gimle, Helligkorsvej 2 on Wednesday 27th of June. After the course you'll deliver the depositum, get your shifts overview and entrance bracelet. RESERVE THAT DAY NOW.

Otherwise you have to make sure that you are in Roskilde and ready to work from the Saturday 30/06/07 at 07.00 to the Tuesday 10/07/07 at 07.00 because you can work at any time during that period. If you cannot work one particular day (if you have exams f.e.), then you have to inform me as soon as possible, so that I can try adapt your work schedule. You have until the end of may to do that.

I will TRY (this can be quite complicated with 140 volunteers only in our team) to have you working with your friends, and also to divide shifts fairly.

You can put your tent in the camping area. Each year our volunteers organise their own cosy camp right on "our" camping. Just remember the camping opens the 01st of july.

One last thing: take this work seriously, we have a security responsibility.

We'll make a contract between you, us and the Festival and will demand a 500 DKK deposit, to ensure that you show up in good time for your shifts, don't come drunk, etc... (anything I am sure you wouldn't do but that has unfortunately been seen in other teams). As "vagt" or "gards" you will have to be able to react appropriately in case of emergency (health, fire...), therefore we need reliable people. You will get more details about this during the obligatory 2 hours course.

Our camping was elected "best camping" of all the festival in 2005, and 2nd best in 2006 (only because they did not want us to trust all their precises), thanks to the great input of our team of 140 dedicated volunteers.

First of all, thanks to all participants at BRC’s Reflex meeting in Nish, the atmosphere was rather optimistic and our common focus seemed quite clear. As our contribution to local cultural life, Dbau played at a 100% packed and rockin’ Feedback Club. Our next meeting in BRC will be the General Assembly, time: late May, place: Mitrovica, stay tuned for the invitation!

Our latest initiative is the “inter-regional band exchange travel fund” from which BRC offers support for travelscosts when member organisations initiate interregional concerts. The first deadline is just passed, and 3 organisations will receive travel fund $$$. There will be a second round with a new deadline coming up soon, so watch the website. What we require is basically name of artist, how many musicians, when & where the concert will take place and estimated travel costs. We only support non-commercial concerts.

BRC’s board will meet in Belgrade in early may, and besides having a board meeting, we will meet with a new member organisation gathering partners for a brand new festival initiative in Serbias capitol. On the agenda will, among other subjects, be new educational offers for members of BRC.

Recently one of BRC’s member organisations, Alterart, was struck by censorship when the director of Travniks public cultural centre forbid a scheduled concert with the band “Let3”. BRC know Alterart as one of the most stabile and professional cultural NGO’s in BiH, and we are sure that nothing questionable would have happened at that concert. BRC was ready to stand up for Alterart in this case, but they themselves launched a massive campaign against censorship. See for yourself at www.alterart.ba
BRC bans censorship as a wrong tool to "educate young people", and we will support any organisation struggling with this harassment from directors and club-managers.

We sent an application for European Cultural Foundation, hoping they will support BRCs initiative for a concert on River Ibar and music NGO conference in Mitrovica, Kosovo, planned to happen in August.

A small story from our world is that since BRC streamed the Dbau from Prijedor on our website, just in January around 50 people from china downloaded the whole DBAU album!

If You watch international news, You will see reports on street riots in Copenhagen, Denmark. The author of this article lives just 300 meters from the core of the conflict, the “Youth House”. The Youth House was emptied by police forces Thursday morning, after being a centre for culture and youth activism for 20 years. The municipality sold the house to a Christian sect.
In one hand, politicians must recognize the importance of providing pace for youth and culture, and we must fight to keep these spaces alive and on the hands of youth, but on the other hand we must stress that BRC doesn’t support violence as a mean to uphold this goal.
At the moment I hear the noise of helicopters circling the block, and the forecast for the night is fighting in the streets, broken glass and burned cars…
